CE 473X - Infrastructure-Civilizations

This course identifies, analyzes, and assesses built infrastructure which is the foundation for modern civilization and society.  The complex and interconnected nature of infrastructures is investigated and demands on critical components are calculated.  Students explore the social, financial, political, and cultural factors necessary for developing and operating infrastructure.  Major segments of instruction include water and wastewater, power, transportation, solid waste, communications systems, and public administration.  Several in-class scenarios are provided to synthesize the connectivity between the major items of infrastructure.  The role of infrastructure in recent and historic combat operations is explored.  Finally, cadets complete an assessment of an infrastructure component in the Lexington area.
