General Overview

General Overview

Marine vertebrate zoology is an intense project-oriented field course where students will study large marine vertebrates (e.g. whales, seals, seabirds, fish) through observation and scientific examination under natural conditions through frequent field trips at sea and ashore in arguably the most vibrant marine ecosystem on the plant - the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada.  Other experiences include first-hand explorations and identification of species found on the most extreme tidal flats in the world, a tour of Grand Manaan Island, as well as interactions with organisms at the most diverse aquarium in New Brunswick.  Students will also have the opportunity to travel to historical sites in St. Andrews and explore French-Canadian culture.  This course may be used to satisfy the intensive Experience for the ECOS concentration in Biology.
