CHI 101 & 102 - Elementary Chinese I & Elementary Chinese II


Credit Hours: 6 total

This section is an intensive, combined course that requires enrollment in BOTH CHI-101 and CHI-102 during Summer Session I to receive 6 credits (3 credits for each course). Each course will run for 2.5 weeks, 4 hours a day.

 

Withdrawing from either section will result in withdrawal from both courses and result in zero credits. Students must withdraw from both courses by May 21st for a full refund and May 28th for a 25% refund. No refunds will be given after May 28th, regardless of whether or not the student has completed the CHI-101 portion. 

 

 

Part I: CHI 101: Elementary Chinese I - May 20 - June 4

An introduction to the fundamentals of Chinese. Primary emphasis on the acquisition of the basic language skills (comprehending, speaking, reading and writing) within the context of civilization and culture. Secondary emphasis on the culture where Chinese is spoken. Intended for beginners with no previous experience in the language. Corequisite(s) for Summer 2025: CHI 102. Textbook: Journeys: An Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture (vol. 1) by Vista Higher Learning.

 

Part II: CHI 102: Elementary Chinese II - June 5 - June 21
