Computer and Information Sciences Minor

This minor can be declared through the Department of Computer and Information Sciences .
The minor is intended for those cadets in other curricula who wish to supplement their major with a foundation and application in computer and information sciences.
Minor requirements - 20 to 22 Credit Hours as shown below.
Minor Required Courses: 11 to 13 Credit Hours
CIS 101 - Introduction to Computer Science * - Credit Hours: 3
or
CIS 131 - Introduction to Information, Interconnections, Intelligence and Security - Credit Hours: 3
or
CIS 231WX - IT: Past, Present, and Future - Credit Hours: 3
Track 1: 8 Credit Hours
CIS 111 - Programming I - Credit Hours: 3
CIS 111L - Laboratory for Programming I - Credit Hours: 1
CIS 112 - Programming II - Credit Hours: 3
CIS 112L - Laboratory for Programming II - Credit Hours: 1
Track 2: 9-10 Credit Hours
EE 140 - C Programming - Credit Hours: 3
EE 142 - C++ & Object Oriented Programming - Credit Hours: 3
CIS 112 (3 credit hours) and CIS 112L (1 credit hour) - Credit Hours: 4
or
CIS 213 - Data Structures and Applications - Credit Hours: 3
*The requirement of CIS 101 can also be met by three credit hours chosen from CIS courses numbered 200 and above.
Minor Electives: 9 Credit Hours
Nine Credit Hours chosen from CIS courses numbered 300 or above.
Cadets must maintain an overall 2.0 in the minor.
