MA 220* - Probability and Statistics for Engineers & Scientists

This is a calculus-based treatment of probability and statistics designed for scientists and engineers who cannot take the MA 326/MA 405 sequence. Topics would include: classification of data by graphical and numerical methods; intro to probability to include definitions and theorems; discrete random variables including binomial and Poisson distributions, expectation and variance calculations; continuous random variables to include uniform, exponential, normal, Weibull, Gamma, and Chi-squared distributions; hypothesis testing and least-squares linear regression. The delivery platform in this course to support cadets placed in isolation/quarantine during VMI Summer Session will be Canvas and Zoom.
