Public Choice analyses issues in political science and the policy process through the lens of neoclassical economic principles and methodology. Instead of teaching how politics actually works and why. At the core of it, Public Choice analyses the role of government in the economy and the problems of collective decision making. Thematically, issues covered in class include the role and function of government and governmental decision making; the intersection between public and private interests; the connection between voters, politicians, and the economy; and the effect and evolution of governmental institutions.

Prerequisite(s): EC 201, EC 202, and EC 203 all with a grade of C or higher.
