BI 200 - Integrative Biology Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credit Hours: 4
In this course, cadets will learn to read and interpret primary scientific literature that seek to reinforce and integrate topics covered in the 100-level Biology courses. The students will also use lab techniques from the scientific articles to learn need skills for a biology major or minor. The topics to be covered include biodiversity (plants, animals, bacteria, fungi, viruses etc.), cellular and molecular biology, anatomy and physiology, ecology, evolution, human impact, and genetics. Cadets are expected to complete homework exercises for guided reading, participate in classroom discussions about the article and demonstrate laboratory methods outlined in the article. The cadets will learn to design and carry out a research project. Graded work includes, guided reading assignments, classroom discussions and presentations, laboratory reports and class exams. Prerequisite(s): One of the following sequences:
BI 101 and BI 102 ,
BI 105 and BI 106 , or
BI 111 and BI 112 .
