BI 308 - Zoonotic Disease

Zoonotic diseases are those spread between animals and people. Approximately 60% of all human disease has a zoonotic component and 3 out of 4 emerging infectious diseases has an animal reservoir or vector. This course will focus upon basic diseases transmitted between humans and animals. Comparison between different classes of pathogens (including viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi etc.) relative to mode of infection, pathogenicity, environment, and disease symptomology will be the basis for tests and all other coursework. Prerequisite(s): One of the following sequences: 

BI 101  and BI 102 ,  

BI 105 BI 106 , and BI 200 , or

BI 111 BI 112 , and BI 113
