BI 406 - Virology

Viruses are entities comprised primarily of protein and nucleic acids that infect most life on earth. This course will cover the essentials of virus infection and replication emphasizing biochemical and molecular components essential to virus survival. We will also discuss impacts of viral infection, especially virus/host interactions. These can often lead to debilitating or lethal illness, or economically catastrophic agricultural impacts. Prerequisite(s): One of the following sequences: 

BI 101  and BI 102 ,  

BI 105 BI 106 , and BI 200 , or

BI 111 BI 112 , and BI 113
