BI 414 - Cell and Molecular Biology Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credit Hours: 4
An introduction to cell structure and function including membrane structure and physiology, functions of organelles, nuclear regulation, role of the cytoskeleton, the extracellular matrix, the cell cycle and cell death. Laboratory exercises will focus on the molecular biology of cellular processes and on current laboratory techniques including PCR and electrophoretic separation of nucleic acids and proteins and gene editing. Prerequisite(s): One of the following sequences:
BI 101 and BI 102 ,
BI 105 , BI 106 , and BI 200 , or
BI 111 , BI 112 , and BI 113 .
